While looking through instagram, where photographers post their work, I saw this image it immediately spoke out to me.I see so much meaning and though this image and I really feel it needs to be talked about. With that I would describe this a Studio Portrait. I chose both of these styles because it is obviously a photo that has been staged to speak a message, is being taken in a studio. But it also captures one individual in particular who is the center of the image that is the primary focus. It isn't one that is trying to really sell anything, but instead show meaning, purpose and is telling a story. By seeing where the light is hitting her face, I can tell that there is really one source of light. This one source of light creates shadows that help dramatize what is actually happening in the picture. I feel because it is a studio shot, that this light is artificial and not actually coming from the sun. It is positioned right of the camera and left of the subject. It isn't a bright image, but it perfectly highlights the places that tell the story. Such as the arms coming into the frame and her expression of her face. The darkness in the image adds a tone/mood of sadness, with helplessness. Emphasising that she is all alone with no one to help. |
